External Actions & webhooks
Call an external system from a journey or a signal rule with a templated payload.
External Actions & webhooks
An External Action lets Velsano call another system — post to Slack, open a ticket, hit your own API — as a step in your automation.
Defining one
Admin Console → Integrations & Data → External Actions. Define the endpoint, method, headers, and a templated payload (with merge fields), so it's reusable and testable in one place.
Using it
- In a journey — add a Webhook step and pick a saved External Action (or use a one-off Custom URL).
- In a signal rule — choose the Call External Action action so a condition can fire an outbound call.
Tip
Prefer a saved External Action over a raw Custom URL — it centralizes the endpoint and secret so you can update it in one place instead of editing every journey.
