Segments: building & using them
Save a reusable, dynamic filter and target journeys, surveys, rules, and reports with it.
Segments
A segment is a saved, reusable filter — e.g. "Enterprise customers with health < 60 and renewal within 90 days." Build them in Admin Console → Segments.
Building one
+ New Segment opens a criteria builder with two tabs:
- Customer Filters — field + operator + value conditions (ANDed in a group; add an OR group for alternatives), with a live Segment Preview of matching customers.
- Contact Filters — narrow to Primary / Executive / All contacts, plus extra conditions (role, title, NPS, department).
You can Build with AI from a plain-language description. A segment can't reference another segment (no cycles) — combine them in a rule or journey instead.
Dynamic, always
Segments are dynamic — re-evaluated live every time they're used, so membership always reflects current data. A CSV export from the Members view is a snapshot of the current set.
Using a segment
Target with it from journey enrollment, survey sends, Outreach Campaigns, signal rules (the *is in segment* operator), and as a report filter.
